Work with local leaders to teach adults on a range of subjects: Computers, English, domestic abuse, and etc.

Also, work with the poorer communities to motivate them to cooperate in lobbying their government for assistance with their needs. Some volunteers have already succeeded at getting assistance so the children of mudslide victims can go to school.
